The job sounds deceptively simple: a trip down the drowned colony of Elsinore III. Get in, find the black box and data backup, get out, get paid.

Elsinore III used to be a promising colony. And so, as with anything beautiful in Mothership, something went horribly wrong. The terraforming tower went haywire, overheating the planet, melting the glaciers and mountainous ice sheets. The sea swallowed the colony whole in a single day. Now, one year later, ice reformed all over this shallow ocean planet, leaving only the tower piercing through the frozen veil. Invite your crew for a dive down memory lane, and see if they can escape this rusty, melancholic memory.

Designed for the Mothership Sci-Fi Horror RPG, WDWLB is an evocative environmental storytelling adventure about hubris and its dire consequences, but also grief and how the world can be swallowed by it, frozen in time.

CONTENT WARNING: Thalassophobia, Claustrophobia, Body Horror, Drowning, Asphyxiation, Human Experimentation, Grief.

  • Complete “What Dreams We Left Below” trifold module (US Letter-sized).
  • A print-at-home friendly version.
  • A 300x300 portrait for each NPCs
  • 6 ambient soundtracks to play during your table’s exploration or during your preparation!

This module is made free until the end of the trial period for the Triptech Game Jam. We will most certainly take any and all feedback into consideration as we "remaster" the game and consider a physical release.

WDWLB is intended as a change of pace from the usual Mothership trifold. Throughout most of the adventure, the horror builds up not from what might happen, but from the discovery of what already has. This module comes with an oxygen tracking mechanic to ramp up the pressure as your players take time to find their way through! Of course, that’s not to say that nothing lays down below, waiting for fresh prey… Whilst this was created as a self-contained one shot, you can easily insert it into an ongoing campaign. You can foreshadow it by:

  • Mentioning the colony before the tragedy.
  • Having family members living on Elsinore III.
  • Having the crew meet Claudius before hand.
  • Having a previous job attributed to the Arrowroot corporation.

There are plenty of ways to “beat” this module.
SURVIVE the arctic underwater and escape it, SOLVE the mystery of Elsinore III’s tragedy, SAVE those you can save… if they are willing to let you.

Simply leaving is perfectly acceptable, though ensuring the total destruction of what lies below is possible, if not deadly.

Finally, the crew might escape Elsinore III, but it doesn’t have to be the end for your players! Their actions will shape their relationship with a ruthless mega-corporation, and the NPCs presented in this module, if they survive, can become long lasting friends -or enemies- or even potential player characters.
